Math PEDMAS Stations!

Happy Wednesday!
The month of February has flown by and the count down to the end of Term 2 has begun!

In Math, we worked in randomized groups of three and rotated through different Math centres, each with a different activity involving the order of operations (PEDMAS). We were fortunate to have Mme Page with us during Math today, too and she was able to help guide us through some of the stations with the trickier 'thinking' questions. We were only able to rotate through 5 of the 8 stations today, so will be finishing off the remaining three stations tomorrow morning.

In Français, after our 10 minutes of daily reading time (today we were reading with a partner and were happy to welcome Mme Galka to our classroom!), we watched the NFB video of the story "Le chandail de hockey."
We have been working with this text over the last 2 weeks and were happy to see it 'come to life!' After watching the movie, we worked to answer a set of questions, being sure to write our answers in complete sentences (using part of the question in our answer) and also making sure to include proper capitalization and punctuation.

At the end of the morning, we took time to review the outline for our open-book Science assessment coming up on Friday. Mme Careen reminded us to review our notes/handouts in our binders to ensure we have everything we need for Friday, as we CANNOT share our pages with our friends during the assessment. Anyone wanting to review/double-check their Science info before Friday is welcome to do so tomorrow (Thursday) at 12:15.

100 Day!

Today we celebrated the 100th day of school!
Congratulations to everyone on being 100 days smarter! :)

To celebrate, we started with an "Aimerais-tu" tournament. There were some pretty close votes, but in the end, we would rather have 100 friends!

We then did an "Amazing Race" type challenge with different Math questions. Many of us got stuck on Question #2, but once we got passed that one, we sailed all the way to the finish!

Once we completed all 9 questions, we took a selfie and used the AgingBooth app to make ourselves look old.
It IS the 100th day of school after all...

To finish off the morning, we did "Le défi de 100 secondes." How many push-ups and chair sits can you do in 100 seconds? How many times can you print your name or hop on one foot? After estimating our totals, we put ourselves to the test to see if our predictions were correct!
Check us out HERE, HERE and HERE.
Celebrating the 100th day of school is A LOT of work!

Félicitations to everyone for making the morning so fun!
Looking forward to 100 more great days of learning! :)
