If the World Were a Village...

Happy Friday, learning friends!

We started our day in Math with a short video, "If the World Were a Village."
We learned how the world's nationalities, languages, food, ages (and more!) would all be presented if the world's population were scaled down to 100 people.

After we finished watching the video and filling out our sheets, we began to represent the data in tables and diagrams. We learned that when comparing things to a group of 100, we can easily determine the percent of each category. This will be the starting point for a new unit on percents, fractions and decimals.

In Français today, we began our novel study on the book, "Zamboni" written by François Gravel.

We will be studying the novel as a full class, listening to Mme Careen read as we follow along. The study of each chapter will allow us to predict and share what we read, add new vocabulary to our repertoire (and our word wall) and make text connections to our own lives as well as other texts we may have read. Stay tuned to find out all about the young goal tender, the Zamboni and the Zamboni's special secret!

Have a great weekend!
