Fraction splats!

Happy Tuesday, learning friends!
We were happy to have Mme Page back with us in Math today. We started with a review of what we already know about fractions and then she introduced us to fraction splats!

We started by determining the value of this picture:
Based on the three 'wholes' and the four quarters, the total value is 4.

And then... SPLAT!

Part of the picture is covered and we have to determine what value is being covered by the splat.
We also need to be able to explain our reasoning of how we arrived at our answer.

One strategy would be to 'count up' to the answer. So, we can 2 1/4 and our goal is 4.
We can add 1 whole to get to 3 1/4 and then we need to add 3/4 more to get to 4. Cool!

Here's another one to try:

Happy SPLAT-ing!
